WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR BARIATRIC SURGERY?

The following criteria must be fulfilled;
  • The body mass index must be at least 30
  • The existence of several obesity related comorbidities (reflux, high blood pressure, diabetes, joint pain, fatty liver, high cholesterol, migraine, PCOS, asthma, COPD, dyspnea, snoring etc.)
  • No drug or alcohol abusus
  • No liver cirrhosis
  • No ongoing oncological status
  • No AMI (heart attack) in the past year
  • No advanced heart failure


Obesity surgery, or as is its scientific name, bariatric surgery, consists of many options.
For each patient, the appropriate surgical procedure is determined after a variety of interviews and evaluations performed preoperatively. In determining the appropriate surgical method, the eating habits of the person and their expectations after the operation are determinants.
